Tony Freytag is a founding member, general manager and executive vice president for Crunch Pak the largest producer of sliced apples in the United States.
Tony and two partners started Crunch Pak with an idea for preserving fresh apples that Tony sliced and tested in his home kitchen. Today Crunch Pak is the leading sliced apple specialist in the U.S. and has expanded into other healthy snacks and meal replacement categories that include fresh items such as grapes and carrots.
Originally from Austin, Texas, Tony attended the University of Texas. His career in produce began with Naumes, Inc., of Medford, Oregon, where the idea of sliced apples was first introduced. Prior to the produce industry, Tony held several management positions specializing in inventory and sales programs for retailers including Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.
Tony received the Produce Man of the Year award from The Packer magazine and was named Innovator of the Year by the Greater Wenatchee Area Technology Alliance. He was also named one of the fresh produce industry’s top 25 most influential leaders for his passion and commitment to the business.
Tony serves on various industry boards including past chairman of the United Fresh Association and a board member for the Produce Marketing Association; in Washington state he served as a member of the Public Facilities District Board of Directors.
