Marjorie Stewart-Hart admits she found her calling in life a little late and very unexpectedly. Having spent many years in the telecommunications industry, the impending demise of her employer sent her scrambling for other options. The fates guided her to Biogen and her first experience with serving patients as the leader of the Patient Services Case Management organization. After a week of watching, listening and learning as the team of 60 inspiring case managers worked with MS patients, she was hooked for life. She hasn’t looked back, continuing in various roles at Biogen including leading Biogen’s Active Nurse Educator program and heading up Patient Advocacy for Hemophilia and Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Following Biogen, she went to Shire where she developed the R&D advocacy engagement program and led the incredible team of advocacy professionals working in rare disease. Marjorie recently joined Sage Therapeutics as the Head of Patient Advocacy. She considers it the opportunity of a lifetime to have the privilege of establishing the advocacy function and building Sage’s approach to community and advocacy engagement in service to their mission to transform the lives of patients with life-altering central nervous system (CNS) disorders.
