Rebecca Spalding is a biotechnology reporter for Bloomberg News. Since becoming a journalist at Bloomberg, she has covered everything from the drug pricing debate to algorithmic trading and has interviewed senior executives, fund managers, and a sitting governor. Most recently, she was tasked with covering Puerto Rico’s $70 billion debt crisis, which is set to be the largest ever restructuring in the municipal bond market. Her work has been cited at a congressional hearing, featured on Bloomberg radio, and through Bloomberg’s wire service has appeared in the Washington Post, Sydney Morning Herald, Seattle Times, Denver Post, and other publications. She began her career in journalism at Forbes where she worked on the wealth team, uncovering the assets of billionaires around the world. Rebecca graduated cum laude from Barnard College, Columbia University. She has a masters from New York University where she was student in the business and economic reporting program, an interdisciplinary course that pairs graduate business journalism classes with MBA-level classes at the Stern School of Business.
