Dr. Maria Fedorova is an expert on global regulatory policies for products of agricultural biotechnology and plant breeding innovations. Maria has 30 years of scientific expertise in plant molecular genetics and over 15 years of experience in the agbiotech industry. She managed several regulatory science programs to support global registrations of the biotech seed products and seed production technologies at DuPont Pioneer, now part of Corteva Agriscience™, the Agriculture Division of DowDuPont™. At present, one of Maria’s key focus areas is CRISPR-Cas enabled plant breeding – “genome editing”. Maria develops and leads the strategic policy advocacy and regulatory consultation plans to advance new crop varieties developed with CRISPR-Cas or other company’s innovative technologies through the R&D pipeline to the commercial business. Maria interacts with global regulatory authorities, academia, industry and value chain partners, current and prospective company collaborators, to promote science-based regulatory policies and public acceptance of new technologies. Maria received a PhD degree in microbiology & genetics from the Institute of Agricultural Microbiology in St. Petersburg, Russia, and completed two postdoctoral fellowships: one at the University of Minnesota and another with DuPont Pioneer R&D organization. Dr. Fedorova chairs the Plant Breeding Innovations expert team at CropLife International.
