Don Seiffert is a longtime, award-winning business journalist in the Boston area. Since 2016, Seiffert has served as managing editor of the Boston Business Journal, a 14,000-circulation media company that covers all aspects of business in the greater Boston area, with a heavy emphasis on the strong local technology and life science sectors. Before that, Seiffert was the life sciences editor for Business Journal, a role in which he interviewed dozens of local executives in the pharma, biotech and medical device fields on a regular basis, and wrote news stories and analysis of trends in the sector. Noteworthy stories included the back story of the sale of Cubist Pharmaceuticals in Merck; the rapid growth of Shire Pharmaceuticals; cost/benefit analyses of the $1 billion Massachusetts Life Sciences Initiative launched under Gov. Deval Patrick; and the turbulent road to approval of the first drug to treat the underlying cause of Duchenne muscular dystrophy by Sarepta Therapeutics. Seiffert has a strong interest in science and social justice issues. He lives in Salem with his wife and two children.
