Alison Bateman-House, PHD, MPH, MA, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Medical Ethics at NYU Langone Health. She has advanced training in bioethics, public health, and history, and she specializes in access to unapproved drugs; the ethics and history of human subjects research; and the ethics and history of public health.
Alison Bateman-House serves as the unpaid Chair of the Compassionate Use Advisory Committee for Infectious Diseases (CompAC ID), an external, expert panel of internationally recognized medical experts, bioethicists, and patient representatives formed by NYU in collaboration with Janssen, which advises Janssen about requests for compassionate use of its investigational infectious disease medicines. NYU receives administrative funding from Janssen to facilitate the CompAC Committee.
She also co-chairs the NYU School of Medicine Working Group on Compassionate Use and Pre-Approval Access.
