The Future of Cancer: ”Real-Time” Oncology

1:45 PM–2:45 PM Jun 6, 2018 (US - Eastern)

Room 206AB, Level 2

The convergence of cancer biology, drug discovery, big data analytics and medical technology is providing a tantalizing view of the future of cancer therapy. Within this vision of “real time” oncology, physicians track and adapt treatment “live” for an individual patient as their tumor status, size, location, biomarker status, immune status and other parameters evolve over time and in response to therapy. While it’s an attractive vision, “real time” oncology is not yet a reality.
This panel will examine what it will take to get there, including the need for new cancer biomarkers, the effective application of big data and advanced analytics, new laboratory testing tools and technologies and the increasing clinical and regulatory complexity of clinical studies especially for the growing interest in drug combinations to improve clinical outcomes.
